Amanda Behrens
Amanda is currently managing the GIS Maryland Food System Mapping Project for the Center for a Livable Future (CLF). This project aims to geographically assess and improve the current system of food in Maryland from production to consumption. Prior to her recent move back to Baltimore, and CLF, she spent three years working to strengthen the local agriculture system in western Montana, working as an apprentice on an organic produce farm and assistant manager of the Western Montana Growers’ Cooperative (WMGC). At WMGC, Amanda also managed the development of an online sales and marketing database within the co-op’s website. She sought out this on-the-ground experience after completing a dual master’s degree program at Tufts University Schools of Medicine and Nutrition. She holds a Masters of Public Health, in Health Communication, and a MS in Agriculture, Food and Environment. Prior to graduate school, Amanda worked for CLF as a communications assistant, producing outreach materials and maintaining the web site.
