Christine Grillo
Before joining CLF in 2011, Christine spent several years as senior writer and associate editor for Johns Hopkins Public Health, the Bloomberg School’s magazine. She has also taught creative writing and English composition at universities in Baltimore and New York, and before that she wrote and edited content for print publications and multimedia firms in New York.
At the CLF, Christine is focused on written communications projects stemming from CLF sponsored research, events and project activities. Christine is also involved with managing social media outreach and developing content for the Livable Future Blog.
In addition to working at CLF, she writes for local magazines such as Urbanite and Baltimore Style, and she has published fiction. Christine helped found the Green School of Baltimore, a public city charter school that focuses on experiential environmental education, and she is a founder and board member of CityLit Kids, a Baltimore public school creative writing outreach program.
Christine holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Columbia College, Columbia University, and a master’s degree in Creative Writing (Fiction) from The Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars, and she is a fellow of the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
When not at work, Christine enjoys food, films, swimming, and cycling. At home she also is an avid gardener-growing coneflower for the goldfinches, coral honeysuckle for the hummingbirds, milkweed for the monarchs, and figs for her children.
